This article analyzes the impacts that the main impacts generated by the Covid-19 pandemic have had on the aeronautical industry, particularly in American Airlines in comparison with the main global airline index Bloomberg Global Airlines Index and with the index of the American Market S&P 500 +, based on an event study methodology using the market model. The tests carried out revealed that the first announcements regarding the initial increase in number of cases and restrictions were the main events that affected the behavior of the airline's returns, while the subsequent announcements, after several months of the pandemic, no longer had such significant impacts in prices. The aeronautical industry was one of the most impacted globally, and specifically an airline like American Airlines suffered firsthand the devastating arrival of the pandemic with direct effects on its market value.spa
