| dc.description.abstractenglish | This project addresses the challenges and opportunities of adopting electric vehicles in the Colombian courier sector within the framework of sustainable logistics and carbon footprint reduction. The research covers three of the country's main cities (Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali), which represent strategic economic and logistical hubs and are home to the highest concentration of companies in the sector. However, despite regulatory incentives for this transition, the penetration of electric fleets is still in its early stages, highlighting the gap between public policy and business practice. Eco-efficiency, environmental awareness, initial cost, operating cost, charging infrastructure, range, and charging times all affect operational efficiency. These barriers disproportionately affect SMEs, which face financing and management constraints. However, according to this study, electric vehicles offer strategic advantages such as reduced emissions, improved operating cost structures, and the potential to meet growing demand for sustainable services. The research aims to analyze the environmental, economic, and social feasibility of transitioning to electric fleets in urban courier services and propose strategies to overcome existing barriers and advance towards greener, more efficient, and more competitive logistics in Colombia. | |
